This small plot is owned by a sustainability driven landowner, it has been planted by The Forestry Company, affirming its credentials as a benchmark in sustainable forestry management and it’s significance to climate & biodiversity contributions.

Located near the vibrant town of Castle Rea steeped in history and is best known for its strong connection to the ancient High Kings of Connaught and Ireland, as well as being the birthplace of Dr. Douglas Hyde, the first president of Ireland.

The plot, though small in size, has to date been high performer, and this is expected to continue the coming 10+ years due the rich soil. The new forest creation extends existing woodland habitat in the area and enhances biodiversity. Through surveys of the area, including breeding birds, archaeology, vegetation and soils, the design has retained open ground to conserve important local wildlife, floral and fauna interests.
